Frank Lloyd Wright’s spirit lives on at Nakoma. The grand design of the Lodge at Nakoma is the inspiration for the Inn at Nakoma and Altitude, the resort’s mountain-modern recreation center. Taking cues from America’s master architect, Nakoma’s designs focus on the interplay of wood and stone, with interiors naturally lit by expanses of windows and glass. Together, all the elements create harmony between inside and outside — the essence of both Wright and Nakoma.

Taliesin at Nakoma

The greater Nakoma community was originally conceived as a Taliesin master-planned home association, with the resort’s existing 12 Villas and future residences echoing Wright’s Lodge design.

Plumas National Forest


At 1,146,000 acres, the Plumas National Forest falls between Rhode Island and Delaware in size. The Forest was established by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1905 and is named after its primary watershed, the Rio de las Plumas, or Feather River.
