Feather River Inn Golf Course
In 1920, the Feather River Inn Golf Course was designed by golf architect Harold Sampson, who contributed to the design of several holes at Pebble Beach and the Wawona Golf Course in Yosemite.
As an accomplish golf professional Sampson was not interested in designing a “championship” style golf course, but one that could be played and enjoyed by those staying at the resort. It was Sampson’s love of nature and frequent trips to the mountains that influenced his design which uses the natural lay of the land as much as possible, altering it only out of necessity.
Shortened over the years to its current length, this stunning par three course stays true to its original design concept: a course that is enjoyable, well kept, and rewarding in play. Starting adjacent to a generous putting green and Golf Pavilion, the course works clockwise, gaining elevation to the ninth green, finishing under the Grand Veranda of the historic Inn.
Feather River Inn Golf Course is a great place for players of all levels: novices who want to learn the game, families who want to play together, seasoned golfers who want to hone in their short game, or those looking for a more streamlined outing than Nakoma’s championship 18-hole course.
The course is now open from 7 am to sunset through the fall.
